Do you have curly, dry hair? Thick, color-treated hair? Short, straight hair? Fine, kinky hair? Finding the right flat iron for you really depends on your hair type. Heat and plate types are an important factor in this. Your flat iron should reach and maintain the right temperature and be made from the plate material that works best for you. While most will work well on a variety of hair types, pay close attention to reviews from people with hair similar to yours (bonus points if they include before and after pictures).

Anyone with naturally curly knows that the trick to keeping your curls looking their finest is all about moisture. Whether you’re hoping to sport a straightened style for an evening or two, or just to polish your existing curls, a great hair straightener can help you get the look you’ve always wanted without causing permanent damage to your precious curls! When shopping for the perfect hair straightener for your curly hair, you’ll want to keep the following in mind:

Hey there! My name is Juliet but my friends call me Jules, so you’re more than welcome to! Thanks for stopping by my site which I’ve put together to help people like yourself pick out a flat iron. Irons can be confusing if you have never owned one before (and even if you have). Whether you’re a newbie or a veteran, when it’s time to get a new iron the sheer amount of information can get more than a little overwhelming. I’ve done my best to sort through all of it here so you don’t feel like you’re buried under an indiscriminate amount of styling tools.
Heat protectants contain ingredients that coat hair and slow down heat induction. Janine Jarman says, “Blow dry your hair properly; use a heat protectant product; and with the right iron, you should not have to make a bunch of passes to get the results you want.” We used TRESemmé Expert Selection Heat Protection Spray, Keratin Smooth. Most of our testers liked how it worked on their hair and felt a noticeable difference when using it. Our tester with kinky hair didn’t use the product because she knew it wouldn’t work on her hair. Instead, she recommends using an oil (like an Argan oil) or a hair grease to add moisture to the hair, which makes it easier to straighten.

Lifters who are deadly serious about their training, and who prove it by doing the serious exercises - the BIG movements -- exercises like squats, front squats, bench presses, barbell bent-over rowing, deadlifts, Trap Bar deadlifts, standing presses, push presses, power cleans, power snatches, and jerks. Lifters who finish every workout covered in chalk and sweat - and who've been doing it that way for a long time.
This mini straightener is perfect for my bangs. I also used it to make some longer strands wavy by pulling it down at an angle. I bought it for travel abroad in Denmark since it has the dual voltage, but have only used it in the US so far. It heats up fast and makes my hair super smooth. And the free sample of conditioner smells soooo good and made my hair super soft!
So far I like this straightener. I haven't figured out the curling part of it but will be watching some videos next for that. Other than that it does a good job of straightening hair. I have super thick hair with natural ringlets. It usually takes multiple passes to get my hair soft and smooth. This one does a good job b/c it closes properly down on the hair and doesn't leave my hair looking crimped. The hair also doesn't get caught under the blades and rip out of my head like my last straightener. I haven't used the $200 one that is comparable with this one but I am super picky and this is a good straightener!!
The glider plus is designed to protect your hair with integrated heat balance micro processors that continuously monitor the exact temperature across the surface of the plates and automatically adjust the temperature for evenly distributed heat. That means fewer passes are needed for silky results, while protecting your precious hair from over heat exposure.
There is a slide at the base which holds the device from opening all the way (easier for storing) but if you slide the piece it allows the flat iron to open all the way. The instructions inside the box don't explain this part, so at first I thought it didn't open very far, but once I figured this out, it became a breeze to use. Speaking of the instructions, they are listed in English, Spanish, French, and German. (I think... I don't speak/read all of those languages, but I believe that's correct.)
The solution? Automatic shut off. That way, even if you do forget to turn off your hair straightener, you can be at ease knowing it will turn off on its own automatically. Not all hair straighteners come with this feature, and if you don't have an issue remembering to turn these types of things off it may not be necessary. Still, a little peace of mind and extra precaution never hurt.
The CHI brand has long been one of the most popular for hair straighteners and flat irons, and for good reason – their products work well and they work quickly. The CHI Original Pro 1” Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron is no different. Thanks to its durable build, quality craftsmanship, and leading tourmaline-infused ceramic plates, this is the last hair straightener that you will need to buy for a long time.
T3’s white and rose gold flat iron seems too pretty to reliably function, but hey, sometimes miracles happen. There are four temperature settings ranging from 260 to 410 degrees, and the tool heats up in about a minute. Its ceramic plates are infused with tourmaline, a mineral said to make hair extra smooth because it emits negatively-charged ions. There’s no scientific evidence to support this, but my unscientific bathroom study found that this flat iron does indeed make my hair look shinier.
